Abs System Failure?
I work for an auto auction delivering cars and trucks to the auction and then to dealers after the auction. Some of these vehicles are not in great shape!
The other day, a coworker was driving a Subaru outback and rear ended another car. He claims that the brakes on the car worked well until the accident. In that instance, he claims the brakes "felt" normal in that the pedal did not go to the floor but did not even slow down the car.
If my thinking is correct, it is possible that the system malfunctioned and sensed that all four wheels were locked and released (or prevented) hydraulic pressure to the brake cylinders.
Do any of you certified mechanics out there have an experience with this?

Your co-worker was driving like an idiot, and is tring to blame it on the car to get out of trouble.
My opinion……
No matter what, if the abs system failed you will still have brakes just like everyone else. who’s cars doesn’t come with ABS…The ABS system is for when you who are in a skid situation…It prevents the tires from locking up and not being able to control the situation…ABS braking is only applied during abnormal braking ..such as in a skid position or during when tire looses surface contact.. If the brake pedal went to the floor then the master cylinder is bad…because if you pump the brakes then they feel fine.. If you hold the brake pedal and it continues to go to the floor then the m/cylinder is bad, not the ABS>>>If the mastercylinder fails, then the ABS will not function properly
I own and love the Craft Robo machine. This will cut ANYTHING!!!! You can download heaps of free dinbat fonts and it will cut them. Or you can design your own files in Inkscape (free sofware) also many files are available for free download online. Unfortantly it is a bit of a learning curve to use the software just because it is something so different then a drawing program. But after a week or two you'll be loving it as much as me.

How old is your dog? The most common signs are Polydipsia and Polyuria (increased drinking and urination). This is also a signalment for Diabetes. I am glad that you have a vet appointment scheduled for her.
With kidney disease, 67% of renal function must be lost before you start seeing symptoms.
Along with a thorough exam, make sure your vet does a chemistry panel on her. The two markers- BUN (blood urea nitrogen) and Creat (Creatanine) will best show how her kidney function has been. He will most likely do a complete urinalysis as well.
As far as putting a definite time limit on how long she will live, it is anyone's guess. There is no treatment for renal failure. Depending on how far the disease has advanced (saying that this is indeed what is wrong with her) will depend on the supportive care she needs.
In the early stages, a diet change is one of the best things for her. There are different prescription diets available for the various stages of the disease. Dogs can live several months to 2+ years with this. Try not to be too worried, you don't have any definite answers yet!
I might suggest looking on the internet for renal failure in dogs. This will give you some insight into the disease process and will let you better understand what the vet is informing you of, if this is truly the diagnosis.
Best of luck with your girl, hopefully it won't be as bad what your are thinking.
**Addition: although renal failure can happen at this age due to various reasons, it is highly unlikely that this is the problem. Some dogs naturally drink more than others. I have a smaller, older shar-pei/pit mix and he drinks what seems to be very little. I have a 17month old 80lb German Shepherd who will swipe a drink dozens of times a day and more while he is playing.
Could it be possible she was exposed to any poisonous plants or chemicals? If so, she would be showing other signs like vomiting, diarrhea, both possibly with blood, decrease in appetite, lethargy. The sooner you get her into the vet, the better it seems.
I totally agree with you. And I've started to understand where you come from based on your other questions.
